At RKL Lighting, that perspective runs deep, and today we proudly congratulate our partners at ETC on 50 years of innovation in lighting and control. Five decades of imagining better tools for artists, architects, and visionaries. Five decades of making the world brighter, one system at a time.


Where We Come From Shapes Where We’re Going

RKL Lighting’s roots reach back more than a century through our founder, Bob Kliegl, a descendant of the famed Kliegl Brothers Universal Electric Stage Lighting Company The Kliegl name has long been synonymous with pioneering: inventing and refining many of the early lighting solutions used on Broadway, Hollywood sound stages, and theatres across the globe.


Today, that same passion lives at RKL Lighting.


And it pairs perfectly with ETC’s own groundbreaking history, one that began in 1975 when a group of college innovators set out to build a lighting console that could outperform the big players. That bold step sparked a company that would rethink everything from theatrical control desks to LED fixtures and architectural lighting systems.


Two legacies, one shared purpose: helping creators bring unforgettable moments to life.
